Big man Len inks two-year, $8.5M deal with Hawks

Center Alex Len officially signed a two-year, guaranteed $8.5 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks on Friday.

The 7-foot-1 Ukrainian big man, who played the last five seasons with the Phoenix Suns, averaged 8.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 69 games, including 13 starts in 2017-18.

Len, 25, was the fifth overall draft pick out of Maryland in 2013, but he never fully lived up to expectations in Phoenix as he averaged 7.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 335 games (140 starts). He ranks eighth in Suns’ franchise history with 344 blocks.

In Atlanta, Len will play alongside frontcourt teammates such as John Collins, Dewayne Dedmon and Omari Spellman.
